Developing for VR still requires expensive, specialized hardware. Thinking about how to make VR accessible to more people, a group of VR enthusiasts at Google experimented with using a smartphone to drive VR experiences.

accompanying this is an open software tool-kit that makes writing VR software as simple as building a web or mobile app.

I have purchased one of these for less than £2.40 and have a go at creating my own game on it. the company have managed to make the next generation of gaming more than affordable.
